  Ron Thomas was born April 4, 1953 to Charles and Ellen Thomas. Throughout his life, Ron strived for excellence in everything he did. In school, he was an above average student and a successful athlete.
  Ron married Wendy Becker and together they raised three sons Matt, Nick, and Josh. Shortly after Matt was born, Ron graduated from Saginaw Valley State College and went on to become the Vice President of MacArthur Roofing and Sheet metal. In 1999, he was named President and served in that capacity until his death in 2001.
  From the time Ron's boys were young, he encouraged them to always do their best to strive for excellence. This philosophy of excellence underlies the Ron Thomas Memorial Scholarship, an award for excellence in the classroom and on the athletic field.
